THE IDEA OF STORYTELLING

So what is Storytelling ? To simplify, it is conveying an experience, changing our behaviour or even greater, it has the power of altering our beliefs. Many times in the wedding film industry, most of the videos would look aesthetically impressing but there is rarely any meaningful content. Worst of all, the word "Storytelling" gets thrown around and as a result, people are mislead by it.

As years passed, we looked through the wedding footages that we have documented and realised one thing, we don't feel the couple nor the video. It just looks aesthetically beautiful with all the fanciful camera movements which more often than not, doesn't actually serve any meaning. Although we have to admit that the wedding film industry is a lucrative income, especially if one sticks to a cookie-cutter template when doing wedding videos where you show up on the wedding day and capture as much as you can before finally editing it, we feel that the video needs to have meaningful content and purpose.

God made Man because He loves stories.

MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE

Before rolling the camera or even deciding on who the subject should be, there are tons of research to be done. To know more about the story, we have to dig deeper and talk to as many people as we can to understand the story before we can come to a conclusion on what to focus on. That is why people often say that you shouldn't just listen to one side of the story.

WHAT SPEAKS TO THE HEART

There are many stories in one’s life, however there are only a handful that are impactful. In order to source that out, the story will have to move us first before we start filming. By moving us, we will know where our focus should and will be.

KEEPING IT REAL AND RAW

There is a difference between real expressions and re-enacted expressions, especially when we are dealing with non-talent subjects. We would like to have our work as natural as it can be. This way, the story is more real, convincing and memorable.

MORE THAN JUST A MUSIC, IT'S A MOOD

Romantic, happy. calm. Regardless of how you measure the quality of a music, it is a class of itself. There is no one song that fits all and each song has to be deliberately hand picked for the specific story because they also become the pillar of the story. We believe in the artists and also respect their music. Thus, we ensure to get the necessary permission/license to use it.
